President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrives in Ankara, Turkey for official working visit
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation have on Sunday evening arrived in Ankara, Turkey. They were warmly received by Turkish Minister of Education Mahmut Ozer, Somali Ambassador to Turkey Jama Abdullahi Aideed and other high top Turkish government officials. President Mohamud is expected to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Rajab Erdogan on strengthening diplomatic, trade and security relations between the two countries. During his visit, The President is also scheduled to hold meetings with the Somali community and business personnel living in Turkey to get information about their general situation and the development they made and challenges they encounter in the country in the middle East. This is the second foreign trip Mohamud is going out of the country after the UAE visit since elected as President on May 15. Turkey and Somalia have enjoyed good relations since President Erdogan made his maiden visit to Mogadishu in 2011. Turkey also provides training to the Somali National Army and has the largest military camp in the capital Mogadishu.
