Somali leaders mourn the death of legendary songstress Khadra Dahir Cige
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo have mourned the shocking death of legendary songstress Khadra Dahir Ige who passed away in Hargeisa on Saturday. President Mohamud said that the deceased played a big role in the Somali music adding that she took a role in promoting the Somali poetry. "We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.I am sending condolences to the family, relatives and all the Somali people for the loss of iconic songstress. Khadra Dahir Ige. May Allah grant her Janatul firdows." said Mohamud. On his part, Ex- President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo also conveyed his condolences to the family, friends and Somali people on the death of Khadija Dahir Cige. Farmaajo described her as a main pillar of Somali music who will be greatly missed by the industry. He prayed to Allah to grant her Janatul firdows. Khadra died at the Hargeisa International Hospital after battling with a long illness as per her family. Khadra was born in 1957 in Hargeisa and joined the Waberi band in 1974 at the age of 17, where her career flourished for the decades she was in the industry. She is survived by five children.
