Somali security forces conduct security operations in Mogadishu; seize weapons and narcotics

Somali government security forces have on Monday night conducted a sting security operation in the capital Mogadishu. The operation which was led by Banadir regional Police commander Farhan Qarole was aimed at surmounting the insecurity incidents that has become rampant in the city. The operations were carried out in Yaqshid, Karaan and Heliwaa districts that have recently seen rse in the number of insecurity incidents and resurgence of a youthful group of gangs who operate in the nights robbing unsuspecting members of the public off their valuables. The swoop saw a variety of narcotics and other sophisticated cache of weapons and ammunition seized. Police said the weapons were being used to cause insecurity and harm the locals and attributed the rise of crimes to the consumption of the narcotics and drugs especially by the youth. Police in the capital Mogadishu have in recent days bolstered security operations in the city in an attempt to preempt crimes and other incidents that have led to the killings of innocent people and instilled fear in the city dwellers.
