Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi sacks members of his Cabinet amid simmering political debacle in the break-away region
Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi has on Monday reliefed off their duties two ministers of his administration . Sources closing to the regional leader intimated that the decision was informed by ongoing cabinet reshuffle by the President in an attempt to streamline his Council of Ministers. The Ministers who were dismissed from their duties have been identified as Omar Ali Abdilahi and Mohamed Haji Osman Jama. Abdilahi was the Minister of National Planning whereas Jama headed the Ministry of Agriculture. In a statement Bihi has already named ministers to fill the dockets left behind by the two who were sent packing. Abdikadir Iman Warsame has been locked to the helm of the agriculture docket whilst Ahmed Adan Ahmed Buhane would now head the Ministry of National Planning. The reshuffling of the Cabinet member comes amid a brewing political tension in the breakaway region over the quest to hold Presidential elections on time. Opposition parties have been calling on Bihi to convene the impending Presidential polls in November in time and have occasionally accused the President of undermining the work of the electoral agency in a bid to deliberelately scuttle the polls and buy time. Bihi in his address to the Nation, on 26th of June during the celebrations to mark the independence day of the northern regions hinted at holding talks with the opposition with a view to bringing them on board. The international community has since come and urged Bihi to convene the Presidential elections on time without a fail.
