Villa Somalia dismisses reports of secret visit to Israel by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud
MOGADISHU - Villa Somalia has denied reports that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had secretly travelled to Jerusalem, Israel during his six days visit to the United Arab Emirates. Spokesman of the National Presidency Abdikarim Ali Kaar said President Mohamud had not visited Jerusalem but returned from his official visit to UAE on Friday. In Press briefing on Friday, the Spokesperson dismissed the reports from sections of the media terming it as baseless and fabricated. Upon returning from the country, Mohamud said he has tested positive for COVID-19 and will self-isolate himself to tame the virus from spreading to his family and members of his staff. “My fellow citizens, I would like to inform you that today I tested positive for COVID-19. So far, I have no symptoms, but I will continue to self-isolate and serve the people of #Somalia from home,” he said on Friday on his Twitter account. According to the Ministry of Health, Somalia has registered 26,748 COVID-19 cases and 1,361 deaths.
