Somalia's PM meets with EU's Special envoy for Horn of Africa, Annette Weber

On Thursday, Somalia's Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble,  met with the EU Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber. The meeting discussed the drought situation in the country and the European Union's support for security in Somalia, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. Ms. Annette Weber congratulated Prime Minister Roble on the completion of the country's elections, which officially ended on May 15. The meeting comes after the Somali Drought Relief Committee announced that the drought in the country has severely affected 66 districts in the country. The commission's report also said that the number of people facing water shortages and food shortages was estimated at 6.9 million, who are currently in need of humanitarian assistance. The report also expressed fears that in the coming months it could reach an estimated 8 million people or 50% of the total population inside Somalia. Somalia, which has passed the electoral phase, is currently facing a dire humanitarian situation as a result of the current drought in the country. However, the new president of the federal government of Somalia has promised to do more to respond to the drought, recently appointing a special envoy for the drought
