Somalia's Lower House leadership awards certificates to Police chief Gen.Abdi Hijaar and ATMIS section 1 commander Keith Katungi.
The leadership of the House of People led by the Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe has awarded honorary certificate to the Somali Police chief Gen. Abdi Hassan Hijaar and the commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) section 1 Gen.Keith Katungi for their distinguished and efficient role in ensuring peaceful completion of the long overdue elections in Somalia. The event took place in the National capital Mogadishu on Tuesday. Somalia completed long delayed elections that missed deadlines on May 15 after the convening of the much awaited Presidential elections in Mogadishu. Somalia police force and their ATMIS counterpart were involved in the provision of security to the precarious and protracted elections across the country. They were also deployed to beef up and maintain security at Afisyoni tent where elections of both the leadership of the bi-cameral parliament and that of the President took place. Among those present in the event include Abdikarin Buuh, the Secretary General of Lower House, Deputy Speaker of the Lower House Saadiyo Yassin Samatar and officials from ATMIS.
