Farmaajo hands over power to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
Outgoing President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has on Monday officially handed over to the the 10th President of the Somali Republic after being at the helm of the East African Nation for five years. Farmaajo handed over the reins of power to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in a brief ceremony held at The Villa Somalia. The former President was accorded a guard of honour by the military in s colourfull ceremony also witnessed by former leaders, top military and police chiefs and a section of members of the Public. Mohamud defeated Farmaajo in the Presidential election held at Afisyoni tent in Mogadishu. He garnered 214 against Farmaajo's 110 and becomes the only former President to be re- elected for a second term in office. Mohamud will lead Somalia for the next four years where he is expected to finalize on the urge for a person one vote to be held in the Horn of Africa Nation which has failed to hold universal suffrage vite for its people after the toppling of the Siyad Barre regime in 1991.
