South West State President Abdiaziz Lafta-Garen holds meeting with Puntland State leader Said Abdullahi Deni
Somalia's South West State President Abdiaziz Hassan Lafta-Garen tonight held meeting with his Puntland counterpart Said Abdullahi Deni in Mogadishu. They discussed the general situation in the country and Sunday's Presidential elections. The South West State leader who is in Mogadishu has recently been holding series of meetings with Presidential candidates in the capital Mogadishu. Deni is among the front runners of Somalia's Presidency which is scheduled to be held on Sunday May 15 ( tomorrow) after a long delay occasioned by wrangles among the Somali leaders over the management of elections in the country. 36 candidates including the incumbent and female will face off with each other after two candidates decided to step down for other candidates in the last two days. Three candidates have so far announced that they have exited the race and the latest was Dahir Mohamud Gelle who quit the race on Saturday and urged lawmakers to elect a reformist leader. South West State is one of the Federal Member States which has produced the highest number of lawmakers and their support will be crucial for a candidate.
