UK Embassy and USAID announces Construction of Water Pipes for IDPS in Kismayo town.

The United Kingdom’s Embassy in Mogadishu is in the process of constructing water pipes to help people who have been displaced by the ongoing drought in the country especially the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kismayo, Jubbaland State.

USAID and the UK Embassy are constructing the pipes in conjunction with the Jubbaland regional government administration under the supervision and leadership of Puntland State President President Said Abdullahi Deni.

The water pipes will run for around 7kms are expected to connect several IDP camps in the outskirts of Kismayo town, the capital of Jubbaland State.

Correspondingly, 6,000 internally Displaced Persons people are likely to benefit from the construction of the water pipes and have acces to clean and affordable water.

UK Embassy, USAID, and the Jubbaland regional State government made the announcement of the construction of the water pipes on Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Somalia is grappling with containing the effects of driugte which has claimed lives of both animals and human beings.
