PM Roble meets with top security officials, orders probe into recent terrorist attacks in Mogadishu and Beledweyne

Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, has on Sunday held a meeting with the country’s top security officials and AMISOM commanders in Mogadishu. According to the office of the Prime Minister, the premier discussed the security situation with the officials and ordered them to launch a formal investigation into recent terrorist attacks in Mogadishu and Beledweyne town. ''His Excellency Mohamed Hussein Roble, Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, today met with senior security officials and members of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), ordering a formal investigation into recent terrorist attacks, electoral security and the country as a whole.'' office of the prime minister said. The meeting comes a day after President Farmajo also met with the commanders of the federal security forces. Last week, 48 people were killed in twin attacks in central Somalia with Al-Shabaab insurgents claiming they were targeting politicians ahead of elections. The first attack in Hirshabelle's Beledweyne district was carried out on Wednesday night by a suicide bomber and killed lawmaker Amina Mohamed Abdi and several of her guards as she campaigned for re-election.
