European Union condemns the suicide bombing attacks in Beledweyne and terms them politically instigated

The European Union has condemned terrorist attacks in Beledweyne town on Wednesday evening that left scores of people dead including a female MP Amina Mohamed Abdi and multiple of injuries. In a statement the EU through its Ambassador to Somalia Tiina Intelmann linked the killing to politics and said violence is not progress for the Horn of Africa Nation which has been torn apart by decades of civil wars. The Ambassador sent messages of condolences to the family of Jon. Amina Mohamed Abdi who was among those killed in the tripartite bombings in Beledweyne. "Violence is not a way forward for #Somalia. #EU condemns terrorism and politically motivated killings. Condolences to the family of MP Amina Mohamed Abdi #Beledweyne @EU_in_Somalia." said the Ambassador. According to Somalia's Hirshabelle State President Ali Abdullahi Gudlawe the death toll from last night's Beledweyne suicide explosions has risen to 48, including MP Amina Mohamed Abdi and former lawmaker and left 108 with injuries. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.However, the attacks in Beledweyne came hours after two men wearing military Fatigue gained entry into the fortified Halane camp and started indiscriminately shooting at people on sight before they were neutralised by the Somali government forces backed by AMISOM. Al-Shabab and Daesh militant groups have both taken credut for the attacks near Mogadishu's Aden Abdulle International Airport. The slain MP Amina Mohamed Abdi was laid to rest in Mogadishu today after she was airlifted from Beledweyne. Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble today led a funeral prayer at Mogadishu’s Airport for the departed lawmaker Amina Mohamed who was killed in a suicide attack in Beledweyne. Prime Minister Roble prayed for Allah’s Mercy and Jannatul Firdows upon the deceased Amina Mohamed Abdi. Among those in attendance were former Presidents, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Sheikh Shariff Sheikh Ahmed,Ex- Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre, Lower House Speaker Mohamed Mursal and other senior government officials.
