Hirshabelle State poll postpones the announcement of elders and civil society representatives for two seats in Beledweyne amid tension in the town
Hirshabelle State Electoral Commission has announced the postponement of the of list of traditional elders and civil society members tasked with selecting the delegates of two parliamentary seats in Beledweyne town. In a statement the State poll said the delay has been occasioned by various complaints from traditional elders and candidates contesting for the seat so as to resolve and address the complaints. The body further said that it will announce the list formally once all the concerns raised against the procedure of the seats are addressed. The seat are HOP#010 and HOP#66. This comes amid heavy fighting in Beledweyne today in front of the residence of HirShabelle state leader Ali Gudlawe after clan militia clashed with Federal Government Forces. Fighting broke out after a dispute arose over the HOP010 seat which is reportedly said to be allocated to a certain individual who is allegedly not the right owner of the Lower House seat.
