Two Somali National Army (SNA) forces killed and seven others wounded in Dhusamerab attack

Two Somali National Army (SNA) forces drawn from the special forces of Gorgor who were deployed in Galmudug State to quell cases of insecurity in the regional State were on Monday shot dead and 7 others wounded after suspected Ahlu Sunna militants attacked them in the middle of Dhusamerab town. The fighters opened fire at the soldiers killing two of the specialized Turkish-trained commandos on the spot and leaving seven others with serious injuries barely a month after the paramilitary group were ejected out of the town. According to security officials in Galmudug, the fighters seized and took away a vehicle which was intercepted from them before in an fighting in the regional State. Dhusamerab town administration spokesperson Bashir Mohamed Salat described the killing as a "terrorist" attack which he said bears the hallmarks of what the Al-Qaeda affiliate group- Al-Shabaab militant used to execute. Ahlu Sunna fighters which have huge presence in central Somalia engaged in deadly clashes with Somali security forces in October last year in the town of Guriceel and still have control of areas in the regional State, including the town of Bohol where they escaped to after committing the killing.
