Election Body Suspends HOP#086 Seat
Somalia’s Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) has suspended of election for the HOP#086 seat following complaints from clan elders.
In a statement, the federal election body team said it delayed the election of the #HOP086 seat after receiving complaints from its constituency.
The seat which is among the controversial seats in the ongoing parliamentarian elections is contested by ex-spy chief Fahad Yasin.
The development came as Fahad Yasin started releasing his most recent photos as he prepared to run for MP in HirShabelle's Beledweyne.
The former spy chief who is now working as president's security advisor has not had a photo of him taken by the media for the last five years.
Dalsan TV reporter on Friday reported that delegates arrived in Beledweyne as their registration was underway in the Beledweyne airport compound, contradicting FEIT calls to postpone the seat.
It is reported that the African Union Mission In Somalia (AMISOM) green-lighted the registration process, paving way for Fahad.
So far 153 out of 275 lawmakers of the House of People of Federal Parliament have been elected.
The remaining members will be elected before the election deadline on 25th February according to the Spokesperson of the Election Commissions of Somalia, Amb Ahmed Safiina..
