Somaliland executes four people over killing of soldiers and civilians
Somaliland has today executed by a fring squad four people who were previously handed a death sentence by a military court based in the capital Hargeisa over complicity of killings of civilians and soldiers The four people who were convicted by the military court were said to be members of Somaliland security forces. Two of the people who were to be executed today were pardoned and released from their tethers after the family of the men they killed commuted to taking compensation from them. One of the two people was said to be a pirate who had conspired to break away from a cell in the capital Hargeisa. According to a statement from the court, the suspect is said to be hailing from Southern Somalia and was convicted for shooting dead a prison officer in Hargeisa. The second person who is also a member of Somaliland security forces and was accused of killing a relative in Lascanod town.
