Hirshabelle President Ali Gudlawe Chairs security meeting ahead of Parliamentary elections in Beledweyne
Hirshabelle State President Ali Abdullahi Hussein Gudlawe accompanied by his vice president of Hirshabelle region Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Daba-geed on Saturday chaired a security meeting in Beledweyne town. The meeting discussed the current security situationon the ground in Hiraan region, Beledweyne, strengthening and bolstering of security in the city as elections for the Lower House which is slated for in Beledweyne draws nearer. The meeting was attended by; Army officials, Gorgor and Harmacad forces commanders and AMISOM top officials briefed President Ali Gudlawe the plan of security in the coming days to ensure stepping up of security in the town ahead of Parliamentary elections. The regional leader Ali Gudlawe instructed the security officers in the town of Beledweyne which is the capital of Hiraan region to guarantee and maintain security. Among those also in attendance of the meeting were; the regional Minister of Security, the Commander of the 27th Division of the Armed Forces, the Commanders of the 4th and 5th Battalions of the 27th Division , the Chief of Hirshabelle Police Force, the Commander of the Regional Security Agency, Gorgor and Harmacad Forces Commanders in and AMISOM Force Commanders. Beledweyne is the second voting centre in Hirshabelle after Jowhar city and 26 parliamentary seats of the House of People of Federal Parliament are slated to take place in the town in the coming days. The town has been marred with controversy over the visit by Hirshabelle President Ali Abdullahi Gudlawe with residents and rebel leaders daring Gudlawe to come to the town however Gudlawe was brought to the town by heavy security among them being the special forces of Gorgor military who were deployed in Beledweyne by the federal government to maintain security in Beledweyne.
