Farmaajo and Abiy meet in Addis Ababa

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has held talks with the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Saturday in Addis Ababa. According to the office of the president, Farmaajo discussed the sidelines of the African Union of the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union summit and bilateral relations with the Ethiopian prime minister. ''President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo held bilateral discussions with Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed Ali on the sidelines of the 35th Ordinary Session of the African Union. The leaders discussed how to further strengthen the political, security and economic relations between the two states,'' Villa Somalia said in a brief statement. The President is among Heads of State who are gathered in Addis Ababa for the AU Summit which opened on Saturday, 6, 2021. Day two of the summit is set to kick off today and discuss how to be more proactive in addressing factors that give rise to coups, including instability related to armed groups and frustration over constitutional revisions that extend leaders’ time in power, Solomon Dersso, founder of the AU-focused Amani Africa think-tank, told the AFP news agency.  The AU summit is being held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, under the theme of the year "Building Resilience in Nutrition on the African Continent: Accelerate the Human Capital, Social and Economic Development."
