35th AU Summit kicks off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The 35th African Union (AU) Summit formally is today expected to open in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as various heads of state and other dignitaries continue to troop into the capital. The Summit which brings together African leaders and other leaders will tackle on reforming the African Union and implementing the African Union vision for 2063. The Summit will also bring to the fore the challenges facing the continent including extremism, Poverty, Food insecurity and COVID-19. President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is among the African leaders attending the conference in Addis Ababa. The President arrived in Ethiopia's capital on Friday accompanied by high profile delegation among them senior government officials. President Farmajo is expected to address the Summit on fighting poverty, violence and other issues affecting the continent. The President is also scheduled to hold talks on the sidelines of the conference with other African leaders on corporation among key areas.
