Puntland Military court hands death sentences to 4 Young men and 2 to serve a severe imprisonment

Somalia's Puntland State Armed forces court has sentenced 4 young men to death and two others to serve long jail terms after they were found guilty of being members of the Al- Shabaab militant group and were embroiled in streaks of attacks in the restive town of Galkacayo.

According to the military court, the youngsters aged 19 years old were found with two counts of charges- having connections with the insurgent group and or orchestrating of killings of multiple people among them prominent people in Galkacayo town between 2017 and 2021.

The court handed death sentences to Farhan Feisal Salad, Abdullahi Feisal Hussein, Barkhad Awil Hirsi Nur and Liban Adan Muse by firing squad.

On the other hand, Qani Farhan Abdullahi and Abdirahman Awil Mohamed were both handed 30 and 20-year jail sentences respectively.

The court released the names of the victims who had fallen into the hands of the young gangs and they are:

1: Colonel Abdirashid Hashi (Gebigebi) the former boss of the Mudug Regional Administration.

2: Major Gani Abdirahman Nur

3: MP Mukhtar Omar Ahmed Tiinle

4: MP Abdihakin Moalim Dahir

5: Ibrahim Sheikh Hassan Iro

6: Yusuf Mohamed Hayir

7: Lieutenant Colonel Hashi Aden Elmi (Farey)

8: Lieutenant Osman Hussein Ismail

9: Said Jama Mohamed (Said Maradona)

10: Abdi Jama Hassan (Abdi Gubbe)

The judicature gave the  defendants a period of 30 days to appeal the sentences failure to which they will be sentences will be executed.
