Somali PM Roble leaves Mogadishu for UAE for official visit
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has today left for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a two-day official State visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) upon reception of invitation to the Gulf Nation.
PM Roble is expected to hold meetings with senior government officials of the UAE government including the Emir and the president Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to discuss ways of strengthening the diplomatic relations between the two countries which has been frosty since 2018.
His visit comes after the two Nations announced the restoration of ties early this month when UAE donated food and medical aid to the Federal government for mitigation of the devastating drought.
PM Roble who received the consignment at Aden Abdulle International Airport offered an apology to the UAE government for the seizure of her $9.8M at Mogadishu airport in 2018 and vowed to return the money.
Roble's visit comes amid stand off between him and President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who have been at loggerheads with each other over the management and handling of the ongoing parliamentary elections which are set to be concluded at the tail end of next month..
