Tension high in Beledweyne as rebellious forces seize control of the town

Tension remains high in Beledweyne town after armed rebel forces loyal to Former SNA commander Col Nuur Dheere seized control of the town ahead of an anticipated visit by Hirshabelle President Ali Gudlawe in the town today. Heavily armed men with heavy weaponry and machines were seen in the centre of the town to allegedly block the arrival of the Ali Gudlawe. On Monday night protest erupted in the town against president Ali Gudlawe anticipated visit in the town. Gudlawe has been facing resistance in the town following his elections that violated a clan power matrix of a rotational presidency. According to reports president Ali Gudlawe was later forced to cancel his planned visit to the town after the rebellious forces moved into the town. Mutineered former Somali National Army (SNA) commandant and leader of Hiraan Salvation Army Abukar Warsame Huud who is against the incumbent regime of Hirshabelle arrived in Mogadishu last week reportedly to engage talks with president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo. Villa Somalia wants to count on General Huud to deliver them the 25 seats that are in Beledweyne and facilitate a sweet for Ex- NISA boss Fahad Yassin who is running for a parliamentary seat there.
