Somali PM visits injured Spokesperson in hospital

The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has government spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu who was injured in a suicide car bombing. The Prime Minister was briefed by the doctors on the medical condition of the former journalist Moalimu. ''Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble visited Government Spokesman Mohamed Ibrahim Moalim, who was injured in a terrorist attack at Digfeer hospital on Sunday night,'' the office of the PM said in a statement. The spokesperson Mohammed Ibrahim Moalimu was injured in a suicide bombing attack in Mogadishu on Sunday. Moalimu resigned as the Secretary-General of the Federation of Somali Journalists (FESOJ) in December 2020, after being appointed as the Spokesperson of the Federal Government of Somalia and Senior Media Adviser to the Prime Minister. He has been vocal in defending journalists’ rights and standing against abuses against members of the press across Somalia. He has been outspoken in his position as the FESOJ Secretary-General. Moalimu has also previously worked as the Mogadishu reporter for the Somali service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
