FIET Committee elects new chairman in Mogadishu
The Federal Electoral Implementation Team (FEIT) has elected Muse Gelle Yussuf has been elected as the new chairman of Somalia's Indirect Electoral Commission.
The elected chairman won with 14 votes, while his rival Abdirahim Abdiaziz received ten votes.
Representatives from the Office of the Prime Minister of the FGS, Civil Society and Mogadishu mayor were among those who attended during the ballot held in the capital on Saturday.
The newly elected chairman Gelle Yussuf was previously the acting chairman of the disputed Federal Electoral Commission.
Gelle will now replace Mohamed Hassan Irro who was dismissed by prime minister Roble after he failed to block the approval of the election of acting spy chief Yasin Farey.
Last week Somalia leaders agreed to hold parliamentary elections before February by February 25 after several days of talks hosted by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble with state leaders aimed at ending an impasse over the polls.
