Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has thanked the president of Libya Mr. Mohamed Yunis Al- Manfi for facilitating the return of 97 Somali detainees who jetted back to country on Wednesday from Libya where they have been suffering in various incarceration centres in several parts of Libya.
In a telephone conversation with his counterpart in Libya on Thursday, president Farmajo expressed his gratitude over the decision taken by the Libyan government in securing the release of the Somali Nationals who have been in detention since the last two years.
On his part, the Libyan president Mohamed Al- Manfi conveyed the brotherly love and compassion that the people of Libya have for the Somali people pledging to bolster efforts to ensuring the evacuation and freedom of more Somali citizens who are stranded in his country.
A plane carrying close to 100 returnees who have been evacuated from Libya by the Somali government touched down at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Moqadishu on Wednesday and was received by senior government officials among them being the Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdisaid Muse Ali who said the repatriation of more people who are still marooned in Libya is on course.
Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo had on last year on the sidelines of the Turkey Africa summit in Istanbul met with his Libyan counterpart Mr. Mohamed Yunis Al-Manfi where they deliberated strengthening relations and the evacuation of the Somali Nationals who have been stranded in the country located in North Africa.
