Hiiraan region governor Ali Jeyte Osman has accused the federal government of neglecting the drought-affected areas in Hiiraan region. Jeyte pointed out that his administration communicated with the federal government committee tasked with addressing the drought in the country, and they have not been able to respond. ''The people of Hiran have come together and now they have joined forces with the administration, the clergy, the elders, the business community and the civil society. They have joined forces. "We have not received any response from them, so we need the help of the government and the Hirshabelle administration," said Jeyte. He accused the government of not being serious on the issue and people in affected pockets are bereft of drinking water and fodder for cattle. He made the remarks during a meeting with a committee in his office in Beledweyne to address the widespread drought in Hiran region. Thousands of people have been displaced in Hiraan region by the severe drought in the country and have sought assistance from aid agencies.
