We are ready for peaceful solutions to restore peace in Bosaso - Puntland leader

Puntland state leader, Said Abdullahi Deni said on Friday night said he is ready to start a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict in the coastal city of Bosaso. Addressing the public, the leader of the semi-autonomous region ordered troops to stop fighting and added that the government will accept the decision made by elders. "We are ready for any kinds of peace talks aimed at restoring security in Bosaso, the time when Puntland government used to resolve conflicts are long gone. Mediation should be convened and those behind the fighting condemned even it is our side as administration." Puntland leader Said Abdullahi Deni said. The regional state president also called on the people who flee their homes due to the fighting to return back. Heavy gunfight last week Tuesday between the Puntland Security Forces (PSF), an anti-terror unit once supported by the United States, and the region's regular security forces. The three-day gunfight also claimed the lives of at least 20 people including civilians and injured a dozen others. Bosaso is a port city 1,414 kilometres (878 miles) northeast of the nation’s capital of Mogadishu.
