Farmaajo Meets With Erdoğan at 3rd Turkey-Africa Summit
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit in Istanbul. ''It was a great pleasure to meet H.E Tayyib Erdogan in Istanbul as part of TurkeyAfricaSummit. Turkey-Africa relations remains one of the very many avenues which has seen our two brotherly nations, Somalia and Turkey strengthen our historical Somali-Turkish bilateral relations,'' president Farmaajo said. The president of Turkey also met with several African leaders on the sidelines of the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit, which is being held under the theme “Enhanced Partnership for Common Development and Prosperity.” According to Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, 16 heads of state and government and 102 African ministers attended the summit. Turkey has in recent years increased the attention turned toward Africa with state visits to West African nations like Ghana and The Gambia. However, most of these efforts have been focused in Horn of Africa nations, with significant investments in Somalia and Sudan.
