10 al-Shabaab militants killed by their own bomb in central Somalia 

At least ten Al-Shabaab militants were killed on Friday in south of Mudug region when their vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED). According to Somali National Army Radio, a vehicle belonging to Al-Shabaab run over the IED in the outskirts of Qey'ad and was headed towards Ba'adweyn in Mudug region. ''Locals have confirmed that all the ten militants on board instantly after the explosion,'' SNA Radio said in a statement. The militant group has not yet commented on the issue. The group is known for IED attacks targeting security forces and civil servants in Somalia.  The Al-Shabaab group, which is linked to Al-Qaeda, has been fighting to overthrow Somalia's federal government since 2007 and launches frequent attacks against the security forces as well as government and civilian targets.
