Efforts To Mediate Farmaajo and Roble Underway In Mogadishu
Mediation efforts are underway between President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble as political tensions in Mogadishu hit fever pitch. The mediation led by the regional state leaders of Galmudug Ahmed Qoor Qoor and South-West Abdiaziz Laftagareen who held separate meetings with the head of the state and the premier last night. According to sources, the two regional state leaders held their first meeting with the prime minister, and it is said that so far no tangible results have been achieved after hours of talks. The prime minister is said to have to stick to his decisions, as he is responsible for the country's security. Qoor Qoor and Lafta Gareen also met with Farmajo last night, but no details are yet available. Farmaajo and Roble have in the past two weeks been in a standstill over the prime minister's suspension of the country's top spy chief Fahad Yassin and Federal Minister of Internal Security, Hassan Hundubey Jimale. The directive of Roble to the Minister of Internal Security was nullified by Farmaajo terming the decisions unconstitutional and illegal. According to the PM, he dismissed the two after they failed to deliver a report on the killing of one of the agency's spies, Ikran Tahlil Farah, who disappeared in June and was declared dead by NISA this month.
