Speaker Hashi & DPM Guled Agree Over Nothern Electoral Commissions
Deputy Prime Minister Khadar Mohamed Guled and the Upper House speaker Abdi Hashi have on Sunday reached an agreement to end the months-long dispute over the selection of delegates and the election of MPs representing the breakaway region of Somaliland. The chairman of the Supreme Court, Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, who is also from Somaliland, played a key role in the agreement. The four-point agreement ended a long-running dispute between the two sides, which affected the implementation of upper house elections in the northern regions. Deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Guleid and Speaker Hashi have been at loggerheads over the composition of the interim electoral body which shall be responsible for the elections of lawmakers representing Somaliland at the Federal Parliament.
