Blast Wounds Three lawmakers in Jowhar

At least three Hirshabelle regional state legislators have been injured on Friday night in Jowhar approximately 30km north of the Somali capital, Mogadishu. According to residents, the bombing targeted the residence in Jowhar of the regional MPs in Jowhar destroying part of their house. The regional lawmakers were identified as Adan Mohamed Muse, Duwane Farah Ali and Osman Abdullahi Dhore. The incident comes barely two days as the regional state is set to hold Hirshabelle senatorial elections. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack but the Al-Shabaab group have in the past carried out similar attacks targeting in the past. Alshabaab also attacks military convoys travelling along Mogadishu-Jowhar Road. The group in July threatened to disrupt the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in the Horn of Africa country. They also urged delegates to reconsider their decision to participate in the election.
