Kenyan Delegation Led By CS Raychelle Omamo Arrive In Mogadishu

A delegation from neighbouring Kenya has on Sunday arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu. Led by the Cabinet Secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Raychelle Omamo, the team was welcomed at Adan Adde International Airport by Somali Foreign Affairs Minister Abdirazak Mohamed and other government officials. The two sides are expected to discuss ways to boost bilateral relations between the two countries. According to sources, Omamo is expected to hold talks with her counterpart Mohamed Abdirizak, Prime Minister Hussein Roble, and later hold talks with President Mohamed Farmaajo. In May this year, Somalia restored diplomatic relations with Kenya after mediation by the Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Al Thani. Somalia cut ties with Kenya again on December 15, 2020, over claims of interference with its domestic politics, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said were unfounded. Kenya and Somalia have been at loggerheads over a maritime and territorial dispute, that is currently before the International Court of Justice, ICJ, in The Hague.
