Speaker Hashi Accuses PM Roble Of Taking Sides In Dispute With DPM Mahdi
Upper House Speaker, Abdi Hashi Abdullahi, has accused Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble of not being neutral in the dispute between electoral commission from northren regions, Somaliland. Hashi, who spoke in depth about the rift between the two factions of politicians from the northren region said “no solution has been reached despite recent meetings with Prime Minister Roble”. Speaker Hashi added “I have never asked for one day to come up with effective solution to the stalemate, the premier is favouring his deputy Mahdi Guleid and expressed concern over the northern regional elections. The controversy came after members nominated by Hashi and Deputy Prime Minister, Mahdi Guled elected two chairpersons. The remarks by the Upper House Speaker comes just days after Prime Minister Roble nullified Somaliland Electoral Commission. Roble held closed meetings in Mogadishu following sharp disagreements between Hashi and Guleid over elections of Somaliland lawmakers in the past weeks but no solution has been reached.
