PM Roble Hails SW State for Submiting Names Of Senatorial Candidates

Somali Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble has welcomed the South West state leader Abdiaziz Laftagaren and the South West state electoral commission for announcing candidates for the Upper House elections.

Southwest leader released senate candidates for the election of the Upper House of the Federal Parliament from the Southwest state.

Roble who jetted back to the capital Mogadishu from London for Global Education Summit in a brief statement urged the other regional leaders to submit the names of the candidates. ''I commend Sout West president and the South West Electoral Commission for the release of the election timetable for the members of the Upper House and their list of the candidates.

I hope that the election will take place in a peaceful and transparent environment,'' Ten candidates will contest for the senatorial seat among them only two women, according to a statement issued Saturday night and signed by Laftagaren.

The Upper House will comprise of 54 Senators from all the regional member states.

They will be voted in by state MPs.      .
