Puntland Forces Kill Daesh Members In Operation

Puntland forces have confirmed killing several members of Daesh in an operation in Bari Region. In a Statement, the forces said those killed were planting landmines along the Hamure and Bali-dhidin roads in Bari region. “Among those killed was a cameraman who recorded a Puntland security convoy targeted with a landmine attack a few days earlier and released it online,” reads the statement in part. Puntland security forces did not, however, release the exact number of the killed Daesh members. The operations come days after Puntland Security Minster and other officials survived a landmine attack. Under the leadership of Abdulkadir Muumin, the Daesh group is estimated to have up to 300 active fighters. Since its formation, Daesh probably managed to take control of a small, sparsely populated territory in northern Somalia’s mountainous hinterland.
