Ocean Stars Captain Exposes SFF Mismanagement After Relegation From Arab Cup

Ocean Stars captain has Captain Ahmed Said Ahmed has blamed Somali Football Federation (SFF) for the loss to Oman in the FIFA Arab Cup match on Sunday night. Somalia, though, showed real spirit in the second half and provided a dramatic finale after deservedly halving the deficit through a superb downward header by Abel Gigli. ''Today we didn't lose against Oman we lost against Somali Football Federation,'' Somali National Team Captain Ahmed Said said adding ''We've had no coach for 18 months and have had 2 training in last 2 days. How are we expected to compete with countries like Oman that have played 5 games in 2 weeks.'' Oman beat Somalia 2-1 in Doha to qualify for the FIFA Arab Cup on Sunday night at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Qatar. Mohsen Al-Ghasani pounced on a rebound to fire them into an 11th-minute lead, and that was doubled 25 minutes later when the same player earned a penalty that was coolly converted by Salaah Al Yahyaei. This comes barely a week after the Somali Football Federal announced the sacking of Abdellatif Salef, a Belgium national of Moroccan origin, less than three weeks after his appointment as Ocean Stars head coach. Somali Football Federation said in a statement that the coach was "undisciplined” and didn't possess the professionalism that the national team coach should have. "He continuously used abusive words against the players, he maltreated them since taking charge of the team and he doesn’t have good behaviour” the statement read in part.
