Somalia & Ethiopia Sign Fish Foe Khat Trade Deal
Somalia and Ethiopia have officially signed an agreement to swap Fish for khat on Sunday, 20, 2021. The signing ceremony was held at Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu this morning. Somali Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources Abdillahi Warsame alongside Transport and Civil Aviation Duran Ahmed Farah, Ethiopia ambassador to Somalia and other dignitaries attended the signing in of the trade agreement between the two countries would boost trade ties. Meanwhile, the first consignment of 5,000 tonnes of fish was sent to Ethiopia. The trade pact signed between Somalia and Ethiopia will create development projects, economic resources and trade in these commodities. Last week, federal government ministers and a group of Ethiopian and Turkish businessmen toured the ancient Warsheikh district in the Middle Shabelle region, exploring investment and trade opportunities for fish. Ethiopia has been playing a unique role in the realization of infrastructural driven economic integration and deploying peace enforcing missions in various hot spots of the the country. The country took a wise step to end hostilities and pursue an economic and political partnership that is heralding a new era of good neighbourliness in the Horn of Africa and beyond.
