UN Envoy Meets Somali Premier In Mogadishu
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble Saturday held talks with the United Nations Envoy to Somali James Swan at his office in the capital Mogadishu. The meeting focused on the ongoing electoral process led by the premier, the completion of the electoral commissions, acceleration of Covid-19 vaccine and support for the flood victims in Hirshabelle state. Members of the newly appointed electoral technical committee members were also present during the talks. ''Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble with the UN Special Representative of the SG for Somalia AmbassadorJames Swan and discussed the ongoing developments on the country’s elections led by the PM,'' government spokesman Mohamed Moalimuu said in a statement. Roble reiterated that his government is committed to holding free and fair elections in the country Speaking during an event in the outskirts of Mogadishu. Somalia's federal government and regional state leaders signed an agreement ending an impasse that had delayed the holding of both presidential and parliamentary elections in the country last month. The premier and the presidents of the regional states alongside Benadir region governor agreed to hold talks in the country after days of talks in Mogadishu.
