Somalia's COVID-19 cases hit 14,748

Somali has new 19 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total tally of infections to 14,748. Somali Health in a statement said the new patients are from Somaliland, HirShabelle and Benadir following 941 samples tested in the last 24 hours. 38 people recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of people who have been discharged from hospitals to 6,943. The ministry said no patient succumbed to the respiratory disease and the total number of deaths since the pandemic was reported in the country remains at 773. Ten of the cases latest cases are female while nine others are female. The Horn of Africa nation, which has recently experienced a surge of cases, received its first shipment of 300,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine through the international COVAX initiative to ensure that low- and middle-income countries receive vaccines.
