Pro Farmaajo Removed From Poll Committee Ahead Of Polls
A ministerial committee appointed by Premier Mohamed Hussein Roble to verify alleged bias, affiliation with federal Govt and security branches of electoral committee members have recommended the removal of 34 of them from the electoral committee. The 14 individuals include federal level members 14 level members. The opposition candidates filed a petition against the electoral committee following links with the federal government. The commission said it would nominate the 34 individuals within 48 hours. The verifying committee is expected to officially announce the names of the 34 members. The Council of Presidential Candidates (CPC) last week submitted names of individuals they accused of supporting the federal government in the electoral committee. The electoral commission was one of the most disputed commissions and the council of the presidential candidates accused president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of handpicking the committee in an attempt to manipulate the election. Among the disputed member committee members include Abdinur Mohamed Ahmed, Acting Presidential Chief of Staff and Farmaajo’s right-hand man.
