PM Roble Announces Names Disputed Poll Committee Members

The federal government of Somalia has announced, the list of disputed members of the electoral commission of Somalia presented to PM Roble by the opposition candidates. The 67 individuals are accused of having links with the federal government and security services. Among the names announced by the government includes Abdiaziz Sheikh Hussein Dayyib who died in April 2020. Speaking to the media Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman Al Adala said 61 out of the 67 names were presented by the opposition while the rest were submitted by the Upper House Speaker Abdi Hashi. Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble appointed a ministerial-level committee to look into complaints against some members of the indirect election Federal and State-level committees. Somali leaders last week agreed to hold free, fair and inclusive elections within 60 days after days of negotiations in the capital Mogadishu. The pact signed by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, Federal Members States (FMS) and Benadir governor allowed the opposition to submit register their protest over certain election committee members ahead of national polls.
