Second Day of FGS-FMS Poll Talks kicks off In Mogadishu
The second day of electoral talks between the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and Federal Member States (FMS) kicked off on May 23. Sunday is the second day of the talks designed to find solutions to the months-long electoral crisis in the horn of the African nation. Issues to be tabled for deliberations include the Somaliland representation, Gedo region, Electoral board and election security. On Saturday, Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and led the federal government side in the talks. Omar Filish, the Mayor of Mogadishu is also attending talks in his capacity as the Governor of Banadir Regional Authority (BRA). Other leaders in the talks include President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland. HirShabelle’s President Ali Guudlaawe, Southwest’s President Abdiaziz Laftagareen, and Galmudug’s President Ahmed Karie Qoorqoor are also attending the talks.
