Former Somali President pledges to support Somali PM efforts to hold elections

The Council of Presidential candidates has welcomed the agreement reached between Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and the opposition to hold inclusive elections in the country. Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and member of CPC applauded the efforts by the prime in leading the country’s election issues. ''I commend the efforts of the PM in his pursuit to sue for peace & bridge the divide, in particular how he handled the soldiers who opposed the illegal term extension to the mandates of the Pres & Parl. In light of these efforts, I also welcome the talks scheduled on 20th of May,'' said Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Wadajir Party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur welcomed the agreement reached and to end recent conflicts in Mogadishu. ''I welcome the 10-point agreement that was reached to end the recent conflict that arose due to the illegal term extension. I thank all those who took part in this process, especially those that opposed the term extension,'' said Abdirahman Abdishakur.
