Families flee amid tensions in Mogadishu

Hundreds of families have fled from different districts in the capital Mogadishu following Sunday's heavy gunfight between government soldiers backing Farmaajo and those against his two years term extension. On Tuesday morning families were seen fleeing from the violence in parts of Howlwadaag, Kaaraan and Hodan districts as tensions remain high in parts of the country. Families were seen moving in other parts of the capital as they packed their households in public service vehicles and Autorickshaws. Tension, however, remains in most parts of the country as soldiers can still be seeing patrolling strategic areas of the city. Government forces barricaded Daljirka Dahson monument this morning amid fears that Pro-government troops will launch an attack on opposition positions. On Sunday night universities in the capital were closed following clashes between Somali forces and opponents of President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed.
