Somalia's Presidential Candidates Link Amisom & Turkey in Sunday Night Clashes

The council of Presidential candidates have condemned Sunday's attack on the residences of former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Wadajir party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame in Mogadishu. According to a statement by the council, Turkish trained Gorgor forces were involved in the attack and warned against politicising the military ''We, therefore, warn AMISOM and the governments supporting Gorgor forces not to be involved in a civil war. It is also their responsibility to clarify their position regarding the use of their support in a civil war, and to take clear action in this regard.'' the state read in part. The council further condemned suppression and intimidation of the Somali people. Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on late Sunday called for calm and dialogue to end violence in Mogadishu following close to 24 hour heavy clashes. Some of the opposition leaders have claim the government has not communicated with them for dialogue. Meanwhile, the leaders of the presidential candidates are holding a Virtual Meeting with members of the international community in Somalia. According to reliable sources, the meeting is focusing on the situation in Somalia after Sunday night clashes.
