Somalia and China agree to boost bilateral cooperation

Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guleid met with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Qin Jian at his office in Mogadishu. The two sides discussed areas on enhancing bilateral relations, Education, Economy, Humanitarian issues and cooperation on the security and fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic. ''It was a pleasure to meet with Qin Jian today. We discussed the bilateral relations between Somalia and China covering education, economic, humanitarian and security cooperation as well as continuing efforts to tackle COVID-19 with Sinopharm vaccinations,', DPM Mahdi Guleid said. Somalia last week received 200,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated by China to boost the war against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Horn of African State. China’s Ambassador in Somalia Qin Jian and other Ministry of health officials received their first jabs of the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday. The exercise had given priority to the frontline health workers, essential service providers and the elderly.
