Farmaajo congratulates Djibouti president on winning fifth term
Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo, has congratulated Ismail Omar Guelleh after winning a fifth term as President of Djibouti.
“I am very pleased to congratulate my brother Ismail Omar on his re-election as President of Djibouti. I am confident that you will accelerate the development and cooperation of the countries in the region,” said Mohamud Abdullahi Farmaajo.
Ismail Omar Guelleh was re-elected the fifth time according to the provisional results released on Saturday.
Guelleh, 73, contested with his opponent Zakaria Ismail Farah a political newcomer who was his only rival after opposition parties decided to boycott this year's presidential elections, in which more than 200,000 Djiboutians had registered to vote.
