Security forces block main roads in Mogadishu ahead of parliament session

Major roads leading to the parliament have been blocked by security forces on Wednesday morning ahead of the planned parliament session. The Lower house parliament is holding a session on COVID-19 refugee law and border committee. The National Salvation Forum which consists of the opposition and two regional state leaders raised concern over mandate extension on Wednesday session. Speaker of the Lower house Mohamed Mursal banned 15 opposition from attending the upcoming sessions accusing the MPs of rioting and obstructed Saturday’s Parliament session on Covid-19. In a press conference on Sunday, fifteen opposition MPs who were banned by speaker Mohamed Mursal from attending the upcoming five sessions vowed to be present in parliament despite the ban. The legislators were on Tuesday notified the house will discuss be discussing COVID-19 refugee law and border committee.
