Jubaland leaders meets with Kheire ahead of poll talks
Jubaland State os Somalia leader Ahmed Mohamed Islam met with the United Nations Special envoy to Somalia James Swan. ''Delighted to receive UN ambassador James Swan at my residence in Mogadishu,'' Madobe said in a tweet. ''We discussed ways to find a solution for the political impasse and contributions towards a successful conference,'' Meanwhile, Madobe held talks with former Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Khaire, who is currently one of the opposition candidates running against Farmajo The two discussed issues including the current situation in Somali and polls stalemate ahead of the FMS-FGS summit. Though talks still face hurdles over demands raised by the two regional states leaders and opposition, the sixth round of talks scheduled to take place tomorrow in the capital round would be the signing of the implementation process of the September 17 deal and to support the Baidoa Framework agreed to by a joint technical committee. This week, Somali prime minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble emphasised that the government will continue holding talks on the electoral process to implement the pre-election agreement, which was reached on September 17 last year, with leaders of the federal member states. A consultative forum announced by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to take place on 4th of this failed after leaders of Puntland and Jubbland state did turned up. Somalia was supposed to hold presidential elections late last year but differences between the leaders of the federal and regional governments.
